EYES OPEN
Ephesians 6: 13-18 (MSG) Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
Stopping provides the space and time so we can have the opportunity to pay attention to take a closer look so we can choose a response.
We must be prepared if we want to win the battle we’re in! We must learn how to apply every weapon God has given us. We keep our eyes open!
Look at your life, your reality -- your thoughts, your feelings -- look at what you think, say and do.
You must focus on your reality. Not what might happen. Not on the “what if’s.” Not tomorrow. But what is the reality of today, of what actually happened and what you think and feel about it.
Ask yourself “what?” “why?” and “where?” Answering these questions leads to self-awareness and then awareness to God.
WHAT is my reality? What am I thinking, saying and doing?
Think - (Feelings, emotions, dreams, hopes, longings, fears) What am I feeling and thinking?
Say - What words were spoken to me? What words did I speak to myself or to others?
Do - What happened or what is happening? What was my response?
WHY did I think, say or do what I did?
WHERE am I not truthing? LOOK UP to what God says — awareness to Him— and ask where is what I think, say and do not consistent with God’s truth?
Being self-aware leads us to a path that is aware of what God is doing in our hearts, minds and in our lives.
